Want To Get A Peek Into Pixar’s Next Movie?
Pixar, Known for it’s hallmark achievements with cgi family movies. From Toy Story to Monsters Inc, A Bugs Life to Finding Nemo They definitely know how to capture that innocence & wonder on the screen for it’s patrons. With Finding Dory prepping for it’s release following the success had by it’s predecessor things are looking good for the nautical flick. But Pixar has announced there will be a special short film shown prior dubbed Piper.
A six minute short about a curious little bird getting over it’s fear of water. Piper is the tale of a child learning about the food chain, with help of its parent and its friend (in this case, a hermit crab), and is soundtracked by King Crimson singer, Adrian Belew.
Speaking to EW, director Alan Barillaro said he came up with the idea after watching birds as he ran on the Californian coast:
“Seeing the way these sandpipers react to waves and run, I always felt, ‘Gosh, that’s a film, that’s a character. It’s always fun to show a world we’re familiar with but from a different perspective. We’ve all been to the beach, but have we ever viewed water from just an inch off the sand? That could be very fearful from a bird’s perspective.”
Piper and Finding Dory will be released in Australia on June 16, the US on June 17 and the UK on July 29.
