Celebrities featured in a controversial domestic violence campaign are threatening to sue after their images were photo-shopped to look battered and bruised.
The images, created by aleXsandro Palombo, followed the International Day for Elimination of Violence last month and were intended to show that anyone – even the rich and famous – can be a victim of domestic abuse.
The campaign called ‘No Woman is Immune from Domestic Violence’ featured edited images including reality stars Kim Kardashian, actresses Emma Watson and Angelina Jolie and singers Miley Cyrus and Madonna.
Speaking of the images, the artists said:
“Domestic violence is a social cancer that knows no boundaries nor social status, it can affect anyone, whether you’re an ordinary person or a celebrity.
To defeat him you need to use the antidote of culture by educating and raising awareness on Respect and Equality. Each of us has do their part to help increase awareness and to change things by any means.”
However, despite the obvious good intentions of the images, some of the stars were not happy with the photos, saying that they did not give permission for them to be used. According to TMZ, both Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner have asked lawyers to “issue a warning” to the artist.
